IIJS Signature 2025 kicks off in Mumbai with a major vision for the future
Mumbai, India – August 1, 2025 : The India International Jewellery Show (IIJS) Signature 2025 opened today in Mumbai with much fanfare and industry excitement. At the heart of this year’s event was a major announcement from Shri Kirit Bhansali, Chairman of the Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC): the prestigious show is set to be renamed as ‘IIJS Bharat’ in the near future.

Mr. Bhansali shared that all the required formalities with the Government of India have been completed, and an official announcement will follow shortly.
“The idea behind renaming IIJS as ‘IIJS Bharat’ is to reflect our national pride and identity,” he said. “India, under the dynamic leadership of our Hon’ble Prime Minister, is evolving as a global leader. Our gems and jewellery sector is a reflection of that growth.”
A Step Towards Repositioning India’s Jewellery Legacy
The renaming is seen as a strategic effort to globalize India’s identity in the gems and jewellery space. ‘IIJS Bharat’ will symbolize India’s traditional excellence in craftsmanship combined with its modern manufacturing strength.
By embedding ‘Bharat’ into the brand, the event aims to project a stronger, more culturally rooted image of Indian jewellery on global platforms.
India’s Economic Ascent in Focus
Mr. Bhansali expressed confidence in India’s growing role in the global economy.
“India is no longer just a fast-growing nation — we are on the verge of becoming one of the largest economies in the world. Our trade events should mirror that global positioning,” he added.

About IIJS Signature
Held annually, IIJS Signature is one of India’s most respected business-to-business (B2B) jewellery trade fairs. It provides a platform for thousands of domestic and international buyers, manufacturers, exporters, and designers to connect, collaborate, and showcase their latest collections and innovations.
Supporting ‘Make in India’ and Global Outreach
The transition to ‘IIJS Bharat’ also aligns with India’s broader national campaigns such as ‘Make in India’ and ‘Vocal for Local’. It signals the country’s commitment to promoting locally made, globally admired jewellery — bridging the gap between heritage and innovation.
The opening day featured an impressive gathering of industry leaders, policy-makers, exporters, and global buyers — all united in support of the initiative and India’s rising stature in the global gems and jewellery trade.
