Pravasi Rajasthani Divas’ 2025 Features Session on Sustainable Water Infrastructure

Jaipur. ‘Pravasi Rajasthani Divas’ 2025 witnessed an impactful thematic session titled, “Development of Sustainable Water Infrastructure in Rajasthan: A Responsibility and An Opportunity” at JECC, Jaipur. The session brought together leading experts and industry innovators to discuss practical, scalable and technology-driven solutions for strengthening Rajasthan’s water security.

Addressing the gathering, Chief Minister of Rajasthan Shri Bhajan Lal Sharma, said, “In last two years, our government under the leadership of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, is working on different projects prioritising water. We have prepared a detailed plan for Rajasthan so that irrigation, industry, livestock, and domestic water needs are met.”

Shri Bhagirath Choudhary, Union Minister of State for Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, said, “Major projects like the Eastern Rajasthan Canal Project (ERCP) and use of traditional water conservation methods are transforming Rajasthan into a greener and more sustainable state.”

Shri Kirodi Lal Meena, Minister for Agriculture and Horticulture, Rural Development, Disaster Management & Relief, Civil Defence, and Public Grievance Redressal Department, Government of Rajasthan, said, “The RRR principle – Reuse, Reduce, and Recycle – has immense potential in Rajasthan. To bring this theory into practice, we need the support our expatriate Rajasthanis. With your cooperation, we can harness this approach to bring a transformative change in the field of agriculture across Rajasthan.”

Shri Suresh Singh Rawat, Minister of Water Resources, Government of Rajasthan, said that water conservation has been a long-standing tradition followed by the people of Rajasthan. He also thanked the Chief Minister Shri Bhajan Lal Sharma for the announcement of the water grid in the budget.

Shri Kanhaiya Lal, Minister for Public Health Engineering Department (PHED) and Ground Water Department, Government of Rajasthan, said, “The reason migration increased was because of Rajasthan’s water shortages. However, under the leadership of our Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Shri Bhajan Lal Sharma, Rajasthan is transforming, and major progress is being made to ensure water availability across the state.”

The session featured prominent voices including Shri Abhay Kumar, Additional Chief Secretary, Water Resources, Government of Rajasthan; Dr. Ravindra Goswami, Joint Secretary, PHED and Mission Director, Jal Jeevan Mission, Government of Rajasthan; Shri Arun Misra, Past Chairman, CII Rajasthan & CEO Hindustan Zinc Ltd; Shri Indraneel Dutt, MD and CEO, Ion Exchange India Ltd; Shri Bhupendra Paliwal, Project Head, Ramkrishna Jaidayal Dalmia Seva Sansthan (RJDSS); Shri Kailash Hakim, President, Federation of Surat Trade & Textile Association (FOSTTA); Ms. Saiba Gupta, Programme Lead, Sustainable Water Programme, CEEW.

Experts highlighted the necessity of building a progressive and collaborative vision for Rajasthan, one that transforms responsibility into opportunity and strengthens the state’s water infrastructure for future generations. Discussions focussed on the development and improvement of sustainable water infrastructure and effective water resource management.
